A Southern Transilvanian Village
Dracula Citadel and the ECLIPSE
On the way to the village, we stopped at the astronomy camp.  Astronomy in Romania
seems a mix of science, art, poetry, legend, and song.

At the foot of Vlad the Impaler's Castle, they still have stories of the real Dracula in this small village.
Good luck charms on the doorways protected us.
We stayed in the Grandmother's living room, for a night.
Here is our hostess.
Everyone was pretty friendly in town.
Dracula Citadel was about 800' up at a bend in the river.
We had to head south for clear skies.  Here is the group setting up.
Protective glasses were a must, before totality.
The moon gradually covered the sun over about 1 1/2 hours.
I sadly over-exposed a bit.  This was a 1/4 second shot.
F3.6, 200mm, 200asa film.
Jim Rosestock, another astronomer in our group, took this shot.
A happy group, after totality, watching the moon recede over another 1.5 hours.
